Undying Phenomenon

About this RP
  • This is an alternate universe role play for a reason: the character you choose to play as can die! Watch out for that.
  • If you want to participate, just post right now in character, accepting the shopkeeper's plea. Once I got a good head count, this quest can begin! RP has started! Contact me through PM or other means so we con discuss how to introduce your character. It shouldn't be too much trouble. Chances are, it'll be simple as walking in. :3
  • This thread will be using my RP System. You can read all about it here!
    If you just want to see what steps to take to create a character, look over here!
  • But for now, it's okay to post as a character even without his or her stats created. If you commit an action that requires a check, I will roll with the appropriate modifications for the default Familiar, Uplift, or Dreg.
  • I will allow redistribution of omega points if some choices show to be less useful or if you change your mind. Don't be afraid! This is untested after all!
  • I will make a character sheet for your character if you ask! Just tell me about your character and I will fill in the most appropriate things for it. Or, just tell me what play style you like. You can PM me and we'll work it out. (want to be a good spell caster that heals; a fighter; sneaky; etc.)
  • Birds and flying animals are allowed! I don't know if I had to say that, but there you go!
  • RP replies can be a descriptive or short as you want them to be. It's totally okay to switch between them if you find yourself with more or less time.

    >Talk to that chicken guard over there!
    >Loot that wardrobe!
  • I encourage role playing with the NPC and fellow players. See how far you can steer the story and explore things!
  • Feel free to "try out" this RP. If you don't like it after a while, or can't keep up, you can PM me and I put him or her on a bus!
  • And if the RP system proves to be inadequate or cumbersome, we can abandon it and just try a normal RP.


We begin our tale in darkness.

"Well, it's come down to this."

Just ahead of you flows a heavy sigh. You look atop a counter and see remnants of jars, used plates, and a stack of lids. In the middle lies a fox terrier, the owner of the general store you've been holding up in for five days.

Five days. It's been that long. You can still hear them. Their terrible moans. The damned walk the streets of Chervil, a renowned town of prosperity in the up and coming Anise Kingdom.

To keep hidden, the terrier insist limiting any light source that could attract attention. Tonight seems different, however. The terrier lights a lantern. While the flame still flickers, he looks at you.

He breaks eye contact only to look at his collie wife and pup daughter. He states at you again. "I don't think they're coming back." He's referring to the poodle and iguana that left three days ago. "And, well, frankly, I think we should consider more active options. We need to find help.

"I don't know what it is, but I feel you're our best chance to get out of this mess."

The store owner then hands over an unkempt handkerchief with unnatural stains. "In case of an invasion, this market street is suppose to evacuate to the nearby book building. I think you should look there.

"Do your best."

"Okay," The scruffy goat took note of the note.

With a careful thump of his hooves on the wood, he proceeded to look out the barred up windows. Even with the lantern in the background, it was too dark to tell if those horrors were waiting for him as soon as he climbed out the door.

He briefly wondered what else he could say to the shopkeeper, but wasn't sure what. Kettle nodded to the family as if to say, "stay safe. And, thank you."

The store exits to a spacy pedestrian zone, dead of any movement, save for the wind. It is dusk. Just to your right, about 5 meters, you see a ruined street vender chariot.

The front of you sees a row of shops, buildings with broken windows or barricades.

The right of the walkway sees a giant wall of a large complex, storming three feet high... you think this is the building the [mapkin] path seems to go through. There is also a road to the right, leading to your destination.

To the left of the zone lies darkness, but more-so than the rest of this area. This path also leads to the quickest way to the book building. You have to wonder why this wasn't marked as the path to take.

From all around you, you hear moaning and shuffling. They're nowhere near you, but some areas are more concentrated than others.
Tip: I would suggest making an [Identify] check for those noises.

Kettle turned to the building complex. Then to the roads. He pondered over going down a different route- perhaps even the eeriest one- but the large structure offered a possible way to higher ground. At least, that possibility was enough to make him choose.

Kettle found himself inside of the large complex. The building is actually the Lazlo Theater. You stand within the greeting room. The dusk gives you enough sight to see how much a mess this room is. To the right lies stairs to the upper floor and upper-row seats. To your front, you see double-doors that lead to the rest of the theater.

The goat considered the double doors or the stairs. Which one lead to a straightforward exit? Which one led to a possible ambush? His old ears were currently unhelpful.

So he still held on to his vantage point plan. If there were enemies on the main floor, he'd be on top of the world. If they were up a level, well... Kettle chewed on a scrap of paper, which tasted like old butter. He'd have to face them sooner or later.

You head up the stairs. You are greeted with a blank hallway. It's typical until the very end, where you notice a dent that signals an area just out of sight.

Immediately to your left are another pair of closed double doors. If any pair of doors lead to the balcony, these should be it.

The balcony itself shows no real interest. You clearly see all there is on the balcony and all its rows, which are vacant except from discarded trash. There are no immediate threats, at least. No. Nothing of interest at all.

However, you grow a sinking suspension. A terrible dread that gives you a feeling that you're not alone. That terrible feeling that, deep down, you already know what to expect, but you don't want to think about it. You don't want to think that it's real.

Kettle grunted quietly. He tried to suppress another wave of worry by nibbling on a small bit of trash paper. This time he felt too nervous to swallow. Rather than spitting it out, he kept chewing as he continued.

You scramble about in the bartender area. You only did find a single plank, but you did find a bottle full of nails and a hammer too. Just behind a stack of empty bottles is a bottle of brandy and 2 Sanity Pills.

Kettle bagged the items, and balanced the plank on his back, using his bag strap for support. Then, with a few accidental thunks of his plank against the floor, walls and doorways, he returned to the balcony area.
