Uplift Short Stories

I'm gathering stories, short stories to use for flavor text, in the Uplift Book. they'll be pasted into chapters, where they feel appropriate, and maybe between chapters as well.

The point of the stories is to draw people into the setting, set the tone and build mood. Any sort of topic is acceptable, but they need to be short. A few paragraphs, probably at most (longer is fine, but I might not be able to fit it in).

I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR THESE, and credit -will- be given for those I choose to put in.

Is there a set deadline for the first draft, or is that to be announced later?

Any sort of bible? If not, are there a few things we should keep in mind in the setting?

We'll see how well my writing turns out, then we can put a value.

No deadlines, submit when you feel like it. The book is still no where near done.

I'd prefer stories be set in/near the forest the Tegaki RP is set.

Follow the basic rules of the setting that we've put together and it should be fine, but I will note if something doesn't work for me, and why. XB

I may not use all submissions, but I will/can pay for those I intend to use.

Ohhhh I'm interested :0a I like writing. Any prompts or ? I'd prefer no pay for anything of mine since I have no idea what to do with money orz /paypal still untouched... I was going to write things anyways eventually.

I've no real prompts, you can focus on any character or characters you want, in any situation.

Examples are combat, personal character interactions, using magic, using skills (such as art or making herbal solutions), sneaking around, exploring, and etc etc.

And, okey, Snowy, if you prefer to work freelance for the short stories

IIIIIiiiiiiiiii think it's too long whoops. Also ended up being some Fern backstory derpederp. not sure if the tone is right for this at all either;; hmm i might write out more backstory stuff though generally, since it's faster than drawing it all >.>

Also, that's good to know! I tried to vary a lot. Any one in particular that you liked? :)

I really like the story with the Fallen (a good example of their cruelty to be sure! ), as well as the chat with Tlaetiaf and Frost Tail (biased perhaps, on my part, but I really liked the interaction)

Yeah, create a new thread. You can either have a new thread for each story or you can keep all of your stories to a single thread. I'll eventually get around to posting some stuffs there, too.

As for artwork, if you guys wish to post artwork for the books there, please keep those to a specific thread for it, separate from the stories threads.

Ken, I'm curious, is there a place for.. stories with images that are not quite comics? I was writing stuff but also drawing scenes that were in my head.. actually now I'm wondering if there's a place for comics too. If not I'll just post them somewhere else, since I'm not sure how it'd work. Thhis made more sense when we used tegaki more...

This is probably one of many I will do. I find that mystifying the 200 years the Familiars have lived through fables to be quite interesting. They have lived for so many generations of Uplifts after all. As time passes, it becomes impossible to discern real from tale.

This is an idea that came to me, where 200 years is quite enough for certain fables and so on to appear, usually regarding Familiars. And so, this is one of them. I'll probably do others, a little differently maybe.

It's not her Per se, and neither does the fable reflect reality. In fact, most are certainly exaggerated.
But I can say with certainty, that this fable had origin on the little Argoband's village where most of our RP comes from :B

Hey Ken, you still need these? I'm going through some money troubles, and although I'd love to commission art, I'm afraid time is a bit of a constraint as of right now. But writing is a complete different matter, as I can write quite fast and I have overall more experience with it than drawing. (Not to mention, that I have in my favor quite a vivid imagination, that I sadly can't "transmute" it to drawings as fast as I can to words. xD)

So if you still need some short stories, I could try to make some, send them to you, and -IF- and only if you see them fit and worth it, perhaps get some, much needed, coin.

This is very open invitation, so MOST DEFINITELY. Create a thread for said stories in the contributor section. I will not use anything you don't expressly give permission for, and we can discuss prices via PM, or in the thread you make.

I won't be able to start payments at least for another two weeks, though. If you want to hold off on posting stories until then, I will understand.
